Buying Zucchini Seeds?
Courgette seeds give a beautiful plant with quite a large yield, where even the flowers of the courgette plant are edible with the right preparation.
Courgette seeds are a true addition to your vegetable garden. Although an elongated courgette looks a lot like a cucumber, the courgette is really a descendant of the pumpkin. In shops, you often see the familiar green courgette, but there are many more colours, flavours and varieties of courgette to be found, even organic courgettes. Coloured courgettes can also be used in cooking. There is not much flavour in a courgette, but courgette has the useful property of taking on flavours from other flavourings. Courgette can therefore be used well in soups, stews, stir-fries, casseroles, etc. The flowers of the courgette are also edible, and have a powdery mild flavour. You can find very nice ideas / recipes on the internet about preparing the flower.
Sowing courgette seeds
Courgette is a heat-loving crop, so preferably pre-sow in a greenhouse in pots of about 14 cm. If you want to sow them directly in the garden, do so in a sunny, sheltered spot and no earlier than the end of May. Courgette seeds require humus-rich soil. The flowers are edible when young. If harvested continuously, the plant continues to bear longer. Forms no tendrils and is therefore fine to grow in large pots. The courgette fruits can be harvested young.
