Alcea rosea ‘Double Red’ (Hollyhock) is a high-growing plant (Height 100-175 cm.) with a strong stem and double red flowers. It is a brilliant vertical bloomer. The inflorescence is beautiful and very suitable for planting against the house or along the fence, for example. Well-drained, somewhat sandy soil is excellent. Be sure to fertilise sufficiently and do not let the soil dry out. Space the young plants about 50 cm apart. The nice thing about hollyhocks is that they often sow themselves and thus find beautiful spots in the garden.
