Information
Easily measure acidity
Measuring the acidity of the soil should not be forgotten when maintaining your garden. With the ECOstyle pH Soil Test you can accurately measure the acidity of your soil.
By mixing the soil with a tablet and distilled water, within minutes you get a colour that you can compare with the packaging. The AZ Lime leaflet tells you how much lime you need per m2 to achieve the right pH level.
Instructions for use
- Fill the test tube with 1 cm of soil.
- Add 2 ml (2.5 cm) of distilled water.
- Add the tablet, close the test tube with the cap provided and shake until the test tablet dissolves.
- Set the test tube aside for a few minutes until the soil settles and the liquid turns a clear colour.
- Compare the resulting colour with the colours shown on the front of the container and determine the pH value of the soil.
Depending on your garden, you can use the values below:
- Lawn - slightly acidic to calcareous (pH value 5.5 - 6.5)
- Kitchen garden - a pH value between 5.5 - 7.0 often works best
- Ornamental garden - acidic (pH value 4.0 - 5.5) for e.g. rhododendrons, azaleas and heather, slightly acidic (pH value 5.0 - 6.0) for e.g. hydrangeas and skimmias, calcareous (pH value 6.0 - 7.0) for e.g. boxwood, roses and grapes
