Hydrangea 'Petiolaris' - Climbing Hydrangea White - Buy 3 Plants?
Hydrangea Anomala var. 'Petiolaris', better known in the Netherlands as Climbing Hydrangea, is native to Japan and Northeast Asia. There, this climbing plant grows mainly in woody and mountainous environments.
The climbing hydrangea belongs to the group of self-attaching climbing plants. With its adhesive roots, it can attach itself to practically any surface and can reach a maximum height of up to 4 to 5 metres. If you don't let Hydrangea 'Petiolaris' climb, you can also let it grow nicely as a shrub or ground cover. The maximum height of the shrub is then about 2 metres. The hardy shrub flowers from June to August with beautiful large white flowers.
Care for
Hydrangea 'Petiolaris' is not very critical in terms of location or soil type. This makes it a very popular climbing plant. However, keep in mind that if the plant is in the shade, it will produce fewer flowers than if it gets a lot of sunlight.
The climbing hydrangea is not a fast grower, but it can eventually reach a height of up to 4 to 5 metres. The climbing plant grows both vertically and horizontally and can therefore be guided nicely into the desired shape and direction. If the climbing hydrangea really gets too big, you can easily prune it. The best time to do this is right after flowering or in winter.
Plant height
The plants are delivered with a total height of about 25-40 cm (measured incl. pot). These climbing hydrangeas are delivered in pots with a diameter of 9 cm.
Note: the Hydrangea Petiolaris is a deciduous plant, during autumn, winter and early spring this plant is therefore delivered without leaves. In the warm spring, the plant will develop new leaves again.
