Exotic and tropical plants and trees

What are exotics

Exotic plants include various types of palm trees, yuccas, banana trees (Musa) and agave. They immediately give your garden a tropical atmosphere. That's why we call them tropical plants. Most species combine well with ferns, possibly as undergrowth, and bamboo. But the popular fig and olive trees also belong to the exotics, plants you often find around the Mediterranean. These plants from the Mediterranean can be combined well with lavender and other garden herbs.

Tropical plants from the tropics

Exotic plants and trees are exotic, they do not occur naturally in our country. If plants come from tropical regions, the tropical garden plants, and cannot withstand temperatures below 15 degrees, they are sold here mainly as houseplants. At Garden Select, we do not sell houseplants, only garden plants. If exotic plants are susceptible to frost, you can keep them as container plants (keep them frost-free in winter).

Exotic and tropical trees with flowers

Flowering exotic plants or tropical trees are the oleander, mimosa, jacaranda, Lagerstroemia and Bougainvillea. Our range also includes some fruit-bearing exotics, such as citrus, lime and orange. The degree of hardiness of each exotic plant is indicated.
