Growing perennial flowers
Depending on the sowing time, perennial flowers sometimes bloom already in the first year, otherwise from the second year. It is best to sow first in a seedbed in spring or summer. Once the plants have reached a reasonable volume, you can put them in the desired location. The height of the plant can vary greatly. This depends on the location and density, among other things. The heights we give for the species below are only an indication of the height the plants can reach. Want more information about sowing flowers? Then read our cultivation tips on sowing flowers.
Sowing perennial flowers
Perennial flower varieties can stay in the same spot for years, and unlike biennial flower varieties, flower for several years. If a flower variety is a biennial, this is explicitly stated with the product. If this information is missing, you can assume that the species is perennial. Biennial plants only flower in their second year. A sowing in summer is therefore usually early enough. After flowering and seed setting, they die off. Perennial flowers are best sown in a seedbed in spring and summer. When the flowers have reached a nice size, you can transplant them to the desired places in your vegetable garden. This will result in a beautiful garden throughout the season.
