Fox-tailed palm (Wodyetia bifurcata) 2 Seeds Buy?
Family: Arecaceae
Latin name: Wodyetia bifurcata
Dutch name: Fox-tailed palm
Origin: Australia
The foxtail palm was only discovered in 1978 when an aborginal brought it to the attention of a botanist. A single population was then growing in Cape Melville in Queensland, Australia. It is a very beautiful palm because of its plume-like leaves of 2-3 metres tall, and because the species also grows vigorously and easily, it has since spread in gardens around the world. The species can be kept outdoors as a tub plant down to -4 degrees Celsius and likes a sunny location. After white flowering, orange fruits of 5 cm in size develop, containing a beautiful grooved seed.
