Growing annual flowers
Annual flowers are not difficult to grow because you will see results quickly. Many annual flowers are suitable for sowing directly outdoors from mid-April. With these flowers, it is often possible to start this process a little earlier, by first growing them under a glass and then planting them out. Some of these flowers are not resistant to frost. These should therefore be sown and planted in a different way and at a different time. The annual flowers that cannot withstand frost are sown in a greenhouse in March or April, possibly pricked out and planted outdoors from mid-May or sown directly.
Sowing annual flowers
Annual flowers should not be sown too close together, as this is not conducive to growth. It is also important not to sow the flowers too deep. Fine seed is best sown shallow, or even pressed on top of the soil. In the case of coarser seed, you can sow a little deeper, with a maximum of 1.5 centimetres. In the case of annual flowers, several wilder varieties can also be placed at the end of the summer and overwintered as small plants. For each product on our website, you will find more instructions on how to sow. If no sowing time is listed with the flowers, the seeds can be sown directly outdoors in April or May.
