Which month to plant tulips?

How deep should tulip bulbs be planted in the ground?

What is the best way to plant tulip bulbs? Plant the large tulip bulbs about 10 cm apart. You can use your hand as an aid; the average width of a hand is just under 10 cm. As a planting depth, keep 10 cm as well.

Can you leave tulip bulbs in the ground?

You can dig up the bulbs after flowering and keep them or leave them in the ground for 2-3 years. Tulip bulbs left in the ground will continue to produce flowers. However, the tulips will get smaller each year. Whichever way you choose; plant annuals among the withering Tulips.

What do you do with spent tulip bulbs?

Once tulips have flowered out, remove the flower heads. This way, all the plant's energy goes to the bulb and it will grow and produce new baby bulbs for the next year. If you let the flowers flower out it will start making seed pods, this takes a lot of energy and comes at the expense of the bulb's growth.

Can I still plant tulip bulbs in January?

Bulbs such as tulips can still be planted outdoors in January! Flower bulbs are very strong and full of nutrients and will do their best to bloom. If you plant flower bulbs like tulips 'only' in January, they will bloom only a little later, but it's worth the wait!

How do you keep flower bulbs?

Store in a cool, dry and dark place

Then you can store them in a cool, dry and dark place. Wrap the bulbs piece by piece in old newspaper and put them in a box. It doesn't matter where you put this box next, as long as it is dark, cold and above all dry in that place.
